Colostrum Research >> Quality
Production StandardsQuality Production Standards
How colostrum is processed and packaged is crucial for its bioactivity.
Colostrum which is not collected properly or frozen or heated or not defatted or
incorrectly dried loses its effectiveness. Only Symbiotics®
New Life Colostrum is collected and processed to maximize its bioactivity.
- Fresh processed colostrum retains more bioactivity than frozen colostrum,
which denatures proteins, destroys the protective membranes surrounding the
colostrum globules, and causes heavy microbial growth after thawing1
- Spray dried or freeze dried colostrum are the preferred methods for drying
colostrum1
- Symbiotics colostrum uses an indirect spray drying technique which avoids
contamination from the exhaust gases as is found in direct fired dryers1
- Fresh processed colostrum powder dried with indirect spray drying has
better dispersability and solubility properties1
- Symbiotics® New Life Colostrum is flash pasteurized to maintain maximum
milk protein survival while destroying potentially dangerous pathogens.
Pasteurization has been shown to preserve milk proteins while killing bacteria
and other pathogens2 Commercially pasteurized milk retains high IgG
activity3
- Colostrum which is not defatted rapidly goes rancid and becomes
unpalatable and indigestible. Defatting does not significantly reduce the
amount of bioactive protein available in the colostrum powder1
